About Sosúa: Sosúa is a coastal city in the province of Puerto Plata, in the Dominican Republic. It is located about 6.4 km from the Gregorio Luperón International Airport of San Felipe de Puerto Plata. The city is divided into three sectors: El Batey, which is the main tourist section and on the east side of the main beach (Playa Sosúa) The best beaches in the area are: Playa Sosúa , just twenty minutes east of Puerto Plata, the golden sands of Playa Sosúa embrace the crescent-shaped bay, creating a contrast with its turquoise blue waters with a white, sandy bottom. This beach was practically where beach tourism in the Dominican Republic originated, and continues to be an important destination. Sosúa Beach is known for its lively stretch full of local and international bars, restaurants and shops. Playa Alicia  is one of the newest beaches in the country, formed a few years ago. Also known as the “miracle beach,” this wide stretch of golden sand lies beneath a couple of restaurants and cafes, but you won’t find any other businesses or vendors on the beach. It is a place to go for a leisurely swim and enjoy the impressive sunsets.
